Propane
Why Propane?
Reliable- Propane is available and accessible, not to mention approximately 90% of all propane used in the United States is produced in the United States
Value- Propane burns at a higher degree and more evenly than that of other fuels. Propane is less expensive, plain and simple. It costs about half as much per btu as electricity.
Safe- Service and Safety are top priorities at Guadalupe Gas. All of our propane experts are licensed by the state of Texas and receive continuing education to ensure they have the latest information available on propane safety and regulatory requirements.
Clean- The environment is important to us! Propane is a clean burning fuel. Propane was listed in the 1990 Clean Air Act and the Energy Policy Act of 1992, confirming its non – toxic.
Sizes
We sell, rent, and install the following tank sizes:
-
120 gallon vertical(420 pound) – These tanks can be placed less than 10 feet from a building.
-
250 gallon
-
500 gallon
-
1000 gallon
Any propane tank 250 gallon and above can be installed above ground or underground. The size tank you need is based on the number and type of propane powered appliances you will be using and the size of home or other building you are using propane to heat.
Amount of Propane
Propane needs room for expansion. There also must be a vapor space left in the tank for the system to run properly. 80% is considered full on all propane tanks. So, based on a 250 gallon tank we can put approximately 200 gallons into a 250 gallon tank.
Route Customer or Will Call Customer
Route customers give Guadalupe Gas the responsibility of keeping their tank operational and supplied with propane. Tanks will be monitored for usage and inspected for safety and leaks. If a situation presents itself, Guadalupe Gas will be able to repair it in a timely manner.
Being a route customer also allows Guadalupe Gas to top off your tank as needed. This results in smaller bills throughout the year, and overall improved service.
Is Propane Safe?
Propane is a safe alternative for residential, commercial, and even vehicle use. But, as with any other source of energy, it must be treated with care. Qualified technicians should perform annual inspections on your entire propane system to keep it safe and running efficiently. Propane is an odorless gas, but a scent (ethyl mercaptan) is added to it so that leaks can be detected easily. If you smell gas (rotten egg like smell) where propane is used, you should follow the steps below:
-
Extinguish all open flames. Do not operate lights, appliances, phones, or any other sources of ignition.
-
Leave the area immediately.
-
Turn off the main gas supply valve on your tank if it is safe to do so.
-
Report the leak to your local propane provider. If your local provider is not available, call 911 office or local fire department. Do not return to the building until it is deemed safe to do so by your propane retailer or emergency responder.
-
Have a qualified technician check the entire system to ensure its safety.
